A humble and hardworking man, Phil served his country proudly in the United States Navy Seabees. After his service, he became a well-known carpenter and supervisor for the City of Detroit and Phil retired at the position of Building Trades Superintendent. Phil had a deep love for woodworking, spending countless hours in his pole barn creating and building with his hands. His passion for his craft was admired by many. Phil was married to the love of his life Doris Jane, for an incredible 72 years. Together, they built a beautiful life.
He leaves behind his beloved wife Jane, his children Steve (Maureen) Philippart, Nancy Philippart (Tom McGrail), David Philippart, Ken (Lisa) Philippart, and Tim (Ilona) Philippart. Phil also leaves behind his grandchildren Kelly (Mark) Anderson, Katie (Matt) Lakoma, Jeff (Elaine) Philippart, Kevin (Kate) McGrail, Dave McGrail, Kelsey McGrail (Ed Turner), Kate (Brandon) Taylor, Chelsea McWilliams (Sean Nowak), Kaitlyn McWilliams, Andrew Philippart, as well as 8 great-grandchildren, and his nieces, Kim Schebel and Laura (Steve) Benn, his nephew Leonord Philippart, and 7 additional nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dear daughter Cheryl McWilliams.
A visitation for Phil will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 4pm to 8pm at Pixley Funeral Home, 3530 Auburn Rd., Auburn Hills, MI, 48307. In state will occur 10am Monday, September 23, 2024 until the time of mass at 11am at St. Andrews Catholic Church, 1400 Inglewood Ave., Rochester, MI, 48307.
Phil will be laid to rest in Guardian Angel Cemetery, 4701 N. Rochester Rd, Oakland, MI.
