Stan Duncan, 62 lost his long and grueling battle with lung cancer on April 15, at Sutter Hospital in Auburn with his family at his side.
Stan was born in Auburn on October 11, 1960. He lived in Applegate with his wife of 24 years, Laura. He graduated from Colfax High School in 1978.
Stan is proceeded in death by his parents, Edwin and Mary Duncan. He is survived by his wife, Laura two stepdaughters, Stacy Thompson-Chase and Stephanie Thompson, two brothers, Edwin and Lloyd Duncan and one sister, Lois Cundiff. He leaves behind nephews, Christopher and Jonathan, and Jeffery Duncan and Mathew Downey, and one niece, Amy Beth Parson.
Stan worked in construction, mostly drywall and sheetrock. He worked for Bestway Drywall and had a business with Chris Duncan.
Stan was the kind of man that everyone liked right away. He was easy going and put people at ease.
He had a love for the ocean, especially the Ft. Bragg area and Channel Islands. He spent many happy hours scuba diving with Chris and Jon and friends.
Stan was also a very gifted painter and story teller. He painted beautiful landscapes. He was very creative but always humble about gifts.
He loved his family and was loved in return. He also loved birds, beautiful parrots and also one huge desert tortoise, Pokey.
Stan was a very special and gifted soul and will be greatly missed .
