Joan Lolita Holloway died July 7, 2014 in Auburn California. She was born to Charles R Trost and Forleta Trost May 29, 1924 in San Francisco California. She was a resident of Placer County for 60 years.
Her Maternal Grandparents, Mother, Aunts and Uncles operated The Cliff House restaurant and owned Robert's at the Beach Restaurant and Motel in San Francisco Ca. The family was also active in horse track racing at Bay Meadows and owned "Blackie" a horse that became famous for swimming the Golden Gate in 1938. As a child, Joan enjoyed horseback riding on the beaches of San Francisco. She had a life long love of horses, the ocean and the great outdoors.
Joan attended Lowell High School and Davis University. Her career experiences include employment at the San Francisco Stock Exchange, Huges Brothers Mill in Forest Hill, Stockton Box which later became American Lumber Products, Brady Reality Lake Tahoe,and Ellinghouse Reality in Cool Ca.
In 1957, she married John Willis Holloway, Foreman of the Placer County Road Department, formerly of Breckenridge Texas. John also had a famous horse connection in his history. His father was the first to ride Midnight "The Worlds Greatest Bucking horse". Of Course, their honeymoon was spent horseback riding on the beach at Half Moon Bay. Her Grand daughter has said best what is in the hearts of her family.
Joan Holloway was one of a kind! With a Joie de vivre like no other and a passion for excellent cuisine and travel. She was truly an inspiration on how to live life to the fullest. Joan leaves behind a grand legacy of incredible stories full of hilarity and incredulous moments. There has never been a time where a tale of Grandma has failed to bring a smile to my face and laughter to my heart. She was larger than life, and has made an undeniable and lasting impression on all of those who were a part of her grand adventure. You are My Sunshine Grandma, and I love you double, triple, and quadruple. To infinity!
She is survived by their daughters: Alison Holloway of Pollock Pines,Ca ; Susan Holloway of Auburn and grand daughter Theresa Richmond of Morro Bay, Ca. Arrangements were provided by St Josephs Catholic Church and Chapel of the Hills, a remembrance page is available at http://www.dignitymemorial.com/ There will be a private service at the Forest Hill Community Cemetery.
