Fred Wesley Morss, 89, of Auburn passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 26, 2022 in a care center in Lincoln, CA, after hurting his back in a bad fall. Fred was born 6 Nov. 1932 in Spokane, Washington to Virgil & Mary (Sirokman) Morss. He was raised in the Bay Area and attended college at Humboldt State. He served 2 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, of which he was always most proud. Fred’s employment over the years included security jobs, Marshall and Deputy Sheriff in Placer county, and a total of 33 years in real estate sales around northern CA. Fred loved to have people around him and was known for being likeable and funny. He enjoyed singing Karaoke with friends, especially his favorite song, “Frank Sinatra’s “My Way”. He loved the outdoors, with some of his favorite memories being the camping and fishing trips in Montana with relatives.
Fred is survived by his daughter; Kathryn Hunter (Stevan) Queen Creek, AZ, 6 grandchildren; Stevan Hunter Jr. (Jamie) Santa Rosa, CA; Wesley Hunter (Katie) Montgomery Village, MD; Nicholas Hunter (Candi) Chula Vista, CA; Shawn Hunter (Jane) Australia; Elizabeth Hancock (Craig) Firestone, CO; Maryann Hunter-Dowden (Peter) Australia; and 16 Great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in the veteran’s section at New Auburn Public Cemetery, 1040 Collins Drive, Auburn, CA 95603
