With heavy hearts we announce that Cecelia Sue Palmer, 70, of Auburn, California, passed away on June 17, 2023, after a courageous fight with lung cancer.
Cecelia was a remarkable woman. She was fierce, fun, smart and she touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Cecelia wasn't afraid to get a party going. If she was watching a sporting event and everyone was rooting for the same team, she would loudly cheer for the other team just to keep things exciting. She lived life to the fullest.
Born on February 15, 1953, in Northridge, California. Cecelia lived a life filled with love, laughter, and creativity. She faced life's challenges with resilience, courage, and a determination to make the most of every moment.
Cecelia had a passion for writing, painting, and reading. She found joy in expressing herself through art and literature, a joy she passed down to her grandson, John. Additionally, she had a deep love for music, dancing, and she loved to shop. These hobbies brought her immense happiness and allowed her to connect with others who shared her interests.
Cecelia had a successful career as a Realtor at Century 21, Auburn. She was proud of her community, and really enjoyed helping her clients in the pursuit of their dreams. Prior to that, she worked in ad sales at The Sacramento Bee and The Los Angeles Daily News. Her dedication, expertise, and creativity in these roles left a lasting impact on her colleagues and clients.
A loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Cecelia will be remembered for her vibrant personality and her unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Maschmeyer, son-in-law Jason Maschmeyer, and her grandson, John Liles. She is also survived by her stepchildren; Natalie Sampson, Kim Guthrie, Kelsie Guthrie, Klee Guthrie, and Brian Allio, and her siblings; Jimelle Palmer, Ann Palmer, Patti Palmer Livingston, Lorraine Palmer, and Jim Palmer.
Cecelia was preceded in death by her beloved husband Keith Guthrie; brother, Douglas Palmer; mother, Dorothy Palmer; and her father, James Palmer. She cherished the memories she shared with her loved ones and leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness.
A celebration of Cecelia's life will be held in the month of February during her birthday weekend, with an exact date to be announced at a later time. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society in her honor.
We take solace in the knowledge that her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her love will continue to guide and comfort us in the years to come.
