Kay Loftin Adcock, 82, Attalla, passed away on May 27, 2021. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Attalla. The body will lie in state from 2:00 to 4:00. Morgan Funeral Chapel directing.
Rev. Earl Mitchell, Mike Skelton, and Rev. Kenneth Jacobs will officiate. Burial will be at Red Hill United Methodist Cemetery. Kay was a lifetime resident of Etowah County, growing up in East Gadsden and living 46 of the past 51 years with her loving husband in Attalla.
Although she was a graduate of Gadsden High School’s class of 1957, she was also an avid Etowah Blue Devil fan. Kay was a beloved wife, mother, and Mema. Known for her quick wit and sense of humor, she always enjoyed making others laugh. She loved spending time with her family playing games and reading books to her grandchildren. She will always be remembered for knowing her way around the kitchen, her chocolate fudge, and never being at a loss for words. She worked alongside her father at Loftin Accounting for many years.
Kay was a loyal member of First Baptist Church, Attalla for 47 years. She was a faithful Christian and loved serving her church and the Lord. She served in the children’s department as both a Sunday school teacher and secretary of the children’s department for many years. Kay worked diligently to make sure that her family not only attended church but kept Christ at the center of their lives.
Kay was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Adcock; her parents, Odis and Lilla Loftin; brothers Kenneth Wallace and Wayne Loftin. She is survived by her children Kathy Skelton (Michael McCormac) Georgia, Debby Carden, Rainbow City, Lori (Brad) Schorr, Columbus, Georgia; grandchildren, Mike (Stephanie) Skelton, Collinsville, Chris (Cory) Skelton, Rainbow City, Alli Schorr and Jackson Schorr, Columbus, Georgia; great grandchildren, Justin ( Laura) Irvine, Sardis, Garrett Skelton and Sydney Skelton, Collinsville, Stone Skelton and Cash Skelton, Rainbow City; great-great grandchildren, Ruby Jo and Anna Ruth Irvine, Sardis; brother, Dan (Cathy) Loftin, Tennessee, sister-in-law, Jeannie Wallace, Attalla; chosen son, Joey (Towana) McElroy, Cullman, chosen sister, Teresa Hubbard, Athens; special friends, Danny and Deborah Golden, Larry Means, Judy Davenport, Brenda Preston, Sonny Middleton.
