Mr. Sheffield was a veteran of the United States Air Force, having proudly served his country for more than twenty years. His time in the Air Force included two tours in Vietnam, where he earned several medals and commendations, and extensive training in all aspects of aircraft maintenance. His training in the Air Force led to a career at Hayes Aircraft in Birmingham where he worked for more than twenty years until his retirement. James, or “Bucky” as he was known to his many friends, attended Reeves Grove Baptist Church and spent many evenings sharing conversations and meals with his friends at Cracker Barrel and Huddle House. A loving brother, uncle, and friend- he will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but we will always remember his quiet and generous spirit. Those preceding him in passing include his beloved wife, Tsuneko Sheffield; parents, Inzer and Dorothy Sheffield and brother, Inzer Wyight Sheffield, Jr.
