Brother: Stephen McConnell (his wife Amelia Cuomo) of Villa Rica, Georgia
Sister-in-law: Sheila Shahid of McCalla, Alabama
Step Daughters: Nicky Taylor and Meg Taylor-Wilson of Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Grand Daughter: Anna Taylor of Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Niece: Stephanie Wright of Alpharetta, Georgia (husband Jeff)
Nephew: Matthew McConnell of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (wife Susan)
And numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins.
James McConnell was a member of the Unity Baptist Church of Sand Valley. He graduated Robert E. Lee High School in Baton Rouge and attended Louisiana State University. He was a long time Officer on the Baton Rouge City Police force. Later he managed several Restaurants in the Baton Rouge and Hattiesburg, Mississippi region. He became a Paramedic for Baton Rouge Acadian Ambulance. He also worked as a Medic on the offshore oil rigs. Later he moved to Attalla, Alabama where he was a Paramedic for Rural Metro Ambulance Service. He owned and operated the medical supply store “Tribute Medical” in Attalla and was a volunteer firefighter and paramedic with the Sand Valley Fire Department.
James was known as a Story Teller Extraordinaire, who never let all the facts get in the way of a good story. We want to give a special thanks to all the family and friends for their support and love.
