Choyce Lamar Chadwick

Born in Fort Payne, Alabama, to Millard and Lee Chadwick, Choyce was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched many lives with his kindness, dedication, and love for life.

He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Chadwick, with whom he shared cherished years of companionship and joy. He was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Janet Chadwick, and their daughter, Deborah Chadwick. Together, Choyce and Janet raised four children: David (Julie) Chadwick, Kim (Kevin) Kidd, and Scotty (Lisa) Chadwick. In addition to his children, Choyce welcomed Joyce’s children, Tony (Michele & family) Wood, Kelly (Eric) Richards, and Jason Wood, into his life with love and care.

Choyce is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Rachel, Hilary, Sarah, Savannah, Monica, Lexi, Wil, Ashley, Morgan, Dylan, Abby and Dylan, Destiny, John Eric & JT. His great-grandchildren: Dalton, Joseph, Nora, Cayden, Cassidy, Lucy Blue, and Finn. He is also survived by his siblings: brothers Steve and Renee Chadwick and sisters Pat Ewing and Lane Ward. His legacy extends to a host of family and friends who celebrate the remarkable life he lived.

In the 1960s, Choyce left Fort Payne to pursue opportunities in Chicago, Illinois. It was there he met and married Janet Ruser, beginning a lifelong partnership filled with hard work and shared dreams. Choyce began a successful career in tool and die manufacturing, establishing himself as a forward-thinker and problem-solver in the field.

In 1974, Choyce and Janet moved to Cartersville, Georgia, where they laid the foundation for their business, Utility Parts Company. In 1980, the family relocated to Attalla, Alabama, where they started Choice Fabricators, Inc. Choyce’s vision and dedication turned this venture into a thriving business, providing opportunities for the community and advancing manufacturing practices in the region. He retired in 2004, leaving behind a legacy of leadership and hard work.

Choyce’s life revolved around his family, who were always at the heart of everything he did. He prioritized every moment spent with them. His greatest happiness came from bringing his family together, and the cherished memories made at Weiss Lake stand as a testament to that devotion. Whether it was weekends filled with laughter, storytelling, fishing, or simply enjoying each other’s company, Choyce ensured that those moments were unforgettable. His deep love for his children and grandchildren shone through in every hug, every smile, and every thoughtful gesture. For Choyce, family time was sacred—a time to nurture bonds, celebrate life and instill the values of love, connection, and togetherness that will live on in the hearts of his family for generations.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Butch Douthit, Dr. James Robinson, Dr. Jarrod Warren, Val Compton, and Ernest Wallace “Big E” for their exceptional care and support.

And, special friend Jeffery Kennedy for his kindness. They would also like to acknowledge Choyce’s granddaughters, Savannah and Monica, who, with their nursing skills and boundless love for their Pawpaw, provided extraordinary care during his final days. Their unwavering devotion ensured that Choyce was surrounded by familiar, loving voices, while their compassionate hands tenderly cared for him, making his last days as peaceful and comforting as possible.

Visitation will be held in the chapel at Morgan Funeral Chapel on November 21, 2024, from 10:00 am until noon, followed by a graveside service at Fisher Cemetery, Ft. Payne, AL. Pallbearers will be Dylan Chadwick, Wil Chadwick, Dalton Helms, John Eric Richards, Jason Wood, and Taylor Preston.

Rest in peace, Choyce. You will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
