Ruth Anne Tatum, aged 76 of Alpharetta, GA, passed peacefully on December 1, 2021 from complications due to Covid. She was the youngest of three siblings born in Atlanta, GA to James Roosevelt & Annie Mae (Burt) Tatum. Ruth Anne received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia and became a high school English teacher, where she spent much of her career teaching countless students at North Springs and Independence high schools.
Ruth Anne married the love of her life, the late Richard (Rick) Brumley, in 1991. They were a perfect team & spent their free time traveling & volunteering. Ruth Anne is survived by her daughter Jenna Tatum Fredette (Todd), grandson Evan Fredette & brother Ivan (and Billie Jean) Tatum.
Ruth Anne was known as a force of nature with a caring spirit. She had her own style that was both colorful & fashionable—from her nails & hair to her clothes & handbags. Ruth Anne served as Head Verger at St. Martin in the Field Episcopal Church and served on the Board of Directors for the Diocese of Atlanta, Verger Chapter. She was also an active member of the Herb Society of America.
A funeral service is scheduled for December 11th at one o’clock pm at St. Martin in the Field Episcopal Church in Brookhaven. Graveside burial will take place at Crest Lawn Memorial Park following the service.
