Paul was born in Clifton Springs, NY, to Albert Bernard and Ella Louise (Heidenreich) Martin on December 7, 1930. Growing up in the small town of Newark, NY, on the Erie Canal, was the beginning of his love for all things boating. Paul was honorably discharged from the Naval Reserves.
Paul married Doris Carroll in July of 1954 and they had three children; Jane, Joan, and Jim. Paul relocated to Atlanta in 1962 and enjoyed a successful career with the Rexam Corp-North States Flexibles, as a service engineer involved in machine design and development. In retirement he was able to pursue his varied hobbies, sailing being his first love.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Bernard John Martin, and his wife, Doris Carroll Martin. Paul and Doris had been married 59 years at the time of her death in August 2013.
Left to cherish his memory are daughters, Jane (Doug) DeVries, Joan (Frank) Stabilito, and son, Jim (Tina) Martin; grandchildren: Brad Patrick, Brian Patrick, Lauren (Erin) Doege, Andrew DeVries, Nathan (Lyndsey Connolly) Martin, Joshua Martin, Breanna (Nick Geschke) DeVries, and Madison DeVries (Tristan Burns); and great grandchildren: Haley Doege, Jordan Doege, Olivia Burns, and Gavin Burns. A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to all, Paul will be greatly missed.
Visitation is scheduled at 1:00 p.m., with memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 21st, in the Sunrise Chapel of Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Hwy, Sandy Springs, GA 30328
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
