Mom passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 23rd at the age of 92. She is now free of her earthly confinements and on to her great reward with our Lord Jesus Christ. Born Natalie Jean Strong in Rockland, MA November 7, 1924 and graduated class of 1942 from Rockland High School. Mom is predeceased in death by her Husband Ray Alden, Father and Mother, Raymond Eliot and Dorothy Hayes Strong, brother Raymond E. “Sonny” Strong, Jr., sister Barbara Strong and niece Lynn Alden Farrell. During World War II mom was stationed in New York as a WAVE Pharmacist’s Mate First Class USNR assisting returning soldiers with amputations through the rehabilitation process for their return home. She met Ray, a Merchant Mariner/Navyman, at a Pembroke party and thereafter they raised 4 children, Paula Grisham, Linda Medlin, Gail Alden and Ed Alden. Mom is survived by her children, sister Arline and her husband Louie Matousek, cousin Betty Thornton, sisters-in-law Carol Farrell and Shirley Strong. Other survivors include Jim Grisham, Amy Grisham and Mike Hutchens; Emily, Brandon, Mason and Ella Artrip; Michael, Jr., Brittany, Michael III and Isabella Ovbey; Barbara, Austin and Madison Morgan; Britini, Justin and Copeland Gonzalez; Joan, Evan and Luke Alden; Patty, Jimmy and Sherry Matousek; Wayne and Lauren Farrell; Janet, Jimmy, Jeannie, Wayne and Sally Thornton. Special thanks go to caregivers over the years, Miracle, Minnie, Ms. Betty, Aussie, Tanya, Marie, Eleanor, Gloria, Dianne, Marci and Gail from Visiting Angels and April, Charity, Jennifer from 12 Oaks Hospice. And finally, Dr. Sandy Carter, Jennifer and Dr. Larry Reuter for many years of care.
