McKinley “Mack” Hayes Johnson, beloved son of Taylor and Erica Johnson and little brother of Cooper Johnson, went to be with the Lord on Monday, July 8, 2024. Mack was a bright light to all who knew him, with a contagious smile and a true enthusiasm for life. Mack was strong willed and independent from the day he was born. He always wanted to do things his way. He was fearless, kind, loving, and mischievous. His sweet smile and infectious laugh made every day more fun.
Mack loved Buc-ees, the Georgia Bulldogs, his dog (Dug the Dingo Dog), and all stuffed animals. He also loved listening to Yacht Rock Revue with “Ooga-Chaka Yacht Rock” (aka “Hooked on a Feeling”) being his favorite. However, more than anything or anyone, Mack loved his big brother. Cooper was his best friend and partner in crime. Their love for one another was truly special. Cooper took his role as proud big brother very seriously and was Mack’s number one fan from the moment they met. The feeling was mutual, as Mack’s favorite place to be was always by his brother’s side.
Every day of Mack’s life was and will forever be an incredible blessing to his family, as well as many friends – young and old alike. He was a special soul whose light will continue to shine even now that he has left this earth. We love you, our precious Mackie Moo. We will see you again.
Mack is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Marla Helene Gleit, for whom he is named; maternal great-grandparents, Mickey and Sylvia Bernstein and Stanley and Elaine Gleit; paternal uncle, Riley Johnson; and paternal great-grandfathers, Larry K. Adams and Hal D. Johnson.
In addition to his parents and brother, Mack is survived by maternal grandparents, Randy and Debbie Gleit; paternal grandparents, Brian and Lori Johnson; Aunt Ashley Gibbs; Aunt Katie Cawthorn (Zac); paternal great-grandmothers Carole Parks and Mary Johnson; cousins Ezra Gibbs, Selah Hauck, Bea Hauck, Rosie Cawthorn, and Poppy Cawthorn; and godparents, Rob and Lauren Thomas.
