Bobo was born in Valdosta, GA to Samual Bolling Breedlove and Wilma (Lissie) Felicite Breedlove on July 28th, 1935. She went to school in Birmingham, AL and graduated from Auburn University. After graduation she taught Math in the Albany School system for 6 years. She was set up on a blind date at a square dance with her future husband by their best friends. She married L. Jackson Thomas, Jr. on July 21st, 1963 in Albany, GA. They moved to Atlanta, GA where she taught one year at Lovett School but left teaching to raise her children. Bobo started working at North Avenue Presbyterian Church in 1983 as the Church visitor. She worked there for 19 years and loved meeting new people and getting them involved with the Church. She enjoyed gardening, creating flower arrangements, sewing, cooking, her Church family, being involved with her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Bobos greatest joy was caring for her family and friends. Bobos infectious smile and friendly spirit will be carried on through the many hearts she touched.
Mary (Bobo) Breedlove Thomas was preceded in death by her daughter, Frances Felicite’ Thomas and her husband, L. Jackson Thomas, Jr.
Bobo is survived by daughter Martha Thomas McGourk and her husband Chris McGourk, their children, Mary Frances McGourk and Paul Jackson McGourk, daughter Melissa Thomas Fry, and her children, Kayla Thomas Fry and Murphy Abigail Fry, sister, Frances Breedlove Bridges and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A funeral service will be held at North Avenue Presbyterian Church on Monday October 5th, 2020 at 10:00 AM. Pastor Shayne Wheeler, Pastor Megan Johnson and Reverend Frank Eldridge are officiating the service. Unfortunately, due to COVID 19, this is a private funeral for family and invited guest only. The funeral will be streamed live on the North Avenue YouTube channel www.napc.org/live
Interment will be at Leesburg Cemetery in Leesburg, GA on Monday October 5th, 2020 at 3:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to North Avenue Presbyterian Church where Bobo was a member for over 50 years.
