Marjorie Elizabeth (Betty) Haley died on July 6, 2015 at the age of 89 following a courageous battle with cancer. She was beloved by her family and friends for her gentle nature, steadfast loyalty, and unconditional support. Born in 1926 in Winchester, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of Leonard and Louise Griffiths. She was married for 59 years to the late George Brock Haley Jr. of Atlanta. They met while she was working at Winchester Bank and Trust and he was a student at Harvard University. The two made their home in Atlanta and were long time members of Glenn Memorial Methodist Church. Betty was a wonderful mother to their four children, Susan, Kathy, Brock and Victor and truly devoted her life to them and their families. Betty loved to travel with George and many of their friends around this country and the world, but her favorite spot out of all of them was their lake house in the North Georgia mountains. She will be missed by many lifelong friends as well as newer friends she made after moving to the Lenbrook community three years ago. Betty is survived by her brother, Victor Griffiths of Greensburg, KY; her children Susan Haley Brumfield and husband Scott of Atlanta, Kathy Haley Herman and husband Tom of Atlanta, Brock Haley of Victor, Idaho, Victor Haley and wife Elizabeth of Atlanta; and her grandchildren, Spencer Brumfield, Haley Brumfield Westerlund and husband Jeff, Cullen and Caroline Herman, and Pearse and Helyn Louise Haley. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9 at H. M. Patterson & Son, Oglethorpe Hill. Family will receive friends an hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to FAITH, Inc. (Fighting Abuse in the Home), P.O. Box 1964, Clayton, GA 30525.
