Laura Parker Thompson, 47, of Johns Creek, Georgia passed away on December 15th, 2012 after a long and courageous fight against cancer. She is survived by her husband, Richard L. Thompson and their two sons, William, 22, of Washington, DC, and Benjamin, 17, of Johns Creek. She is the daughter of Frances G. and Joseph L. Parker of Thomasville, GA, and the daughter-in-law of Patricia J. Thompson of Peachtree City, GA and Dr. Hugh S. Thompson of Destin, FL. A brother, J. Mark Parker, and a sister, Julia P. Cook, also survive her, along with their spouses and children. She is also survived by Richard’s family which Laura considered as close as her own and includes two sisters, Toni T. Henry and Lacey T. Dyer, and a brother, R. Lyle Thompson, along with their spouses and children.
Laura's devotion to her husband and sons was extraordinary in its selflessness and faithfulness. She gracefully loved others and lived a life of humility. Laura's quiet way belied her inner strength and endeared her to so many people. She leaves a rich legacy to those that know her.
A service to celebrate and remember her life will be held at Perimeter Church on Thursday, December 20th, 2012. Visitation with the family will begin at 9:30 AM with the service to follow at 10:45 AM. Burial will follow at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs.
