John Hood Ridley died January 22, 2018. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 27, 1946, the son of Dr. and Mrs. John H. Ridley. John earned his BS degree from Georgia State University. He was admitted to practice law in the state of Georgia in 1974, having earned his JD from Oklahoma City University of Law and his LLM in Litigation from Emory University School of Law.
John practiced law in Atlanta for over 30 years and authored two books on jury charges that are widely renowned and used by members of the bar of the State of Georgia. He taught trial practice at Georgia State University Law School and Emory University School of Law. He was a frequent lecturer with the Atlanta and Georgia Bar Associations.
John was a member of the Board of Governors State Bar of Georgia and president of the Cerebral Palsy Foundation.
John is survived by his wife Ann Martin; two sons, John III and Justin; and two daughters, Anne Chandler and Caroline; and siblings Robin Bradley, Julie Williams, and Richard Ridley.
There will be a celebration of life on Friday, January 26th from 3 to 5 pm at The Piedmont Driving Club, where he was a member for over 40 years.
