Mrs. Joan May Law, born in Milledgeville, GA on October 1, 1937, died July 21, 2017, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She was the oldest daughter of the late Wilbur and Nell May. She married William F. Law, Jr. in 1958 after working as a flight attendant for several years with Delta Air Lines.
An avid gardener, she became a Master Gardener and member of Peachtree Garden Club, and was a lifetime Trustee of the Atlanta Botanical Garden. She received a Horticultural Committee Award in 1983 from the Garden Club of America, and was president of the Atlanta Flower Show Association in 1969.
She is survived by her husband, William F. Law, Jr.; her daughter, Amy Law Raley of Evergreen, CO and her husband, Zak, and their four children, Savanna May Raley, Sheridan Odessa Raley, Sawyer Ann Raley and Soren Tyr Raley; her son, Philip Fleming Law of Atlanta, GA and his wife, Laura Saffer Law and their two children, Katherine O’Brien Law and William Fleming Law, II; her sister, Joyce May Daniel of N. Augusta, SC, and her brother Burke May of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL.
A memorial service will be conducted at the Cathedral of St. Philip on Thursday, July 27, 2017 at 11:30am with a reception to follow in Child Hall at the Cathedral.
