Jeanne Dorothy Nelson Andersen

Jeanne Dorothy Nelson Andersen passed away on March 30, 2021 at the blessed age of 101 as her loving family gathered in Dunwoody Georgia. Born in Morris, Minnesota to Clara Johnson and Edwin Alfred Nelson, Jeanne was the beloved wife of predeceased Robert Andrew Andersen, Jr., and the mother of daughter Sharen Jenel Andersen Kilpatrick, son Crossan Robert Andersen, and daughter-in-law, Carla Immordino Andersen.

Jeanne is survived by granddaughter Kristen Lynn Cairns (Kilpatrick), grandson-in-law Alastair William Rutherfurd Cairns Sr., and great grandchildren Rutherfurd Cairns Jr. and Annabel Sarah Madison Cairns of Savanah, Georgia.

She is also survived by grandchildren Brock Andersen, Shane Michelle Silverstein (Andersen), Kirsten Laurel Andersen, and Elliana Lucia Andersen all of whom reside in Southern California. Born to Shane and her husband Robert are great grandchildren Hannah Silverstein and Alana Jacqueline Silverstein.

Jeanne and Bob wed in 1941 after attending St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota and moved to San Antonio, Texas to launch Bob’s career as an FBI agent. Thereafter, Jeanne made loving homes for her family in more than ten states and communities and maintained a vigorous role in these communities, including running for Montgomery County School Board in suburban Washington, D.C. She also worked for years as a dental assistant.

The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer had the most profound influence on Jeanne since she moved to Atlanta. For many years, Jeanne has been known for knitting hundreds of woolen scarfs provided yearly to the homeless in a daily luncheon program sponsored by Redeemer.

Jeanne famously could be found Friday evenings at Los Rancheros Restaurant in Dunwoody enjoying enchiladas rancheras (no cilantro please) and a margarita.

Guided by the restrictions of COVID-19, cremation will be followed by a “family-and-friends” gathering in the near future.
