James Dobbs Davie

It is with deep sadness that the family of James Dobbs Davie announces his passing on May 8, 2022, at the age of 20 years. Dobbs was born on September 18, 2001, in Atlanta, to Beth (Barron) and James Davie.

Faith in Jesus was an essential part of Dobbs’ life, anchoring him in both good and difficult times. He had wonderful small group leaders at Buckhead Church and formed many friendships over the years there. Dobbs also spent many enjoyable summers in the North Carolina mountains at Camp Rockmont where he achieved the award of Paladin.

Dobbs enjoyed competing at sports, and starting at the age of four, he played baseball, basketball, and football at the Northside Youth Organization. Dobbs pursued his love of sports at The Lovett School and competed in basketball, baseball, wrestling, football, and track and field. Dobbs loved football especially and developed lasting bonds with his “band of brothers” teammates while playing for the Lovett Lions. He was a two-year starter for the varsity football team, playing center, and was also a State competitor in the shot put.

Dobbs attended The Lovett School for thirteen years graduating in 2020. The bonds of friendship forged at Lovett have been unbreakable. He matriculated at Auburn University where he began studies in finance and was initiated in the Sigma Chi Fraternity. War Eagle!

Dobbs loved his family, his dogs, Harry Potter, country music, and simply hanging out with his friends. Fishing and shooting sporting clays with uncles was a favorite weekend trip. He had a quiet strength, a kind heart, and was always quick to help anyone in need. Dobbs had a wonderful sense of humor and kept his friends laughing. He had hidden creative talents, concocting savory dishes in the kitchen and on the grill and even sketching artistic drawings.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents Beth and James Davie; sisters, Olivia and Corinne; his great-grandfather, James O. Dobbs (Helen); grandfather, William B. Barron (Patricia); grandmother, Anne Dobbs Barron; aunts, Louise Davie and Brittany Barron; uncles, Robert F. Davie, Clarke Davie (Kelli), Billy Barron, and Benji Barron (Ali); cousins Oliver Davie, Robert Davie, and Celia Barron. His loss is unimaginable to us, and our family and our community of friends are grieving his departure deeply. And yet, we take great solace in knowing that Dobbs knew Jesus and is with him now, fully healed and enjoying an eternal and abundant life in Heaven. We praise God for that.

There will be a celebration of life on May 12, 2022, 11:00 am at Buckhead Church, Atlanta Georgia.

A private service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park.
