Harold Harlston Kinney

Harold Harlston (“HK”) Kinney went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2013.  He resided in the Doraville area since 1972 after moving from Augusta, GA.  Harold was born and raised in High Point, NC, attended Lees-McRae College and UNC-Chapel Hill before entering the Army in 1955.  While stationed at Ft. Gordon, he met and married his wife of 57 years, Margie.  His career with First Financial Management Corp (which later became First Data Corporation) encompassed providing data services to banks around the Southeast until his retirement in 1994.  HK never met a stranger and left friends everywhere he went!  He was a long time member of Brookhaven Christian Church where he faithfully served, at various times, as organist, pianist, choir member, church leader in various roles, Christmas tree lot “beloved fixture” and friend to all.  Everyone loved "Mr. Harold"!    Harold was incredibly devoted to his family.  His 3 sons and their wives, 7 grandchildren, and 1 great grandson were the pride of his life and he never missed an opportunity to tell others about their accomplishments.  He is survived by his wife Margie McAlhany Kinney; sons Mike Kinney (Caroline) of Roswell, GA, Charles Kinney (Debbie) of Norcross, GA, and David Kinney (Anne) of Moore, SC; grandchildren Tara, Amanda, Steven, Elizabeth, Kevin, Laura, and Travis; great grandson Aiden; sister Beth Umberger (Wes) of Ellijay, GA and niece Kelly Luquer of Charlotte, NC.  His legacy to those in his family is priceless!   Visitation will be held at H. M Patterson Funeral Home, 4550 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA, on  Thursday, June 13th, 2013 from 6:00 - 8:30 P.M.  A memorial service will be held at Brookhaven Christian Church, 4500 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA, on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. with a brief visitation time to follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Brookhaven Christian Church.
