Debbie was born in Detroit, Michigan to Donald and Virginia Wahlman on November 25th, 1953. She married David Marshall on August 14th, 1976 in Huntington, West Virginia. Debbie was a devoted wife and loving mother; family meant everything to her. She graduated from Marshall University with a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education. She was a member and President of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority. Debbie was a diehard fan of Marshall Thundering Herd football and would shout and yell as she cheered them on win or lose. She worked as an elementary school teacher for Cabell County, West Virginia, Public Schools and Orange County, Florida, Public Schools for 44 years. She had a passion for educating young children and touched the lives of many students over her years as a teacher. Debbie was a firm believer in Christ and upon moving to Merritt Island, Florida became a founding member of North Merritt Island United Methodist Church. Debbie’s favorite activities revolved around quality time with her family and friends: spending time playing card and board games, cooking and enjoying great meals and trips with her family. Debbie and her husband, David retired to Blue Ridge, Georgia, where she loved reading by the fire and out on her porch over-looking the mountains. Watching the songbirds and humming birds eat and fly around the house always brought a smile to her face. Debbie was always a lover of dogs and enjoyed snuggling and walking with her furry friends. Sarcastic and dry in humor, Debbie was always ready with her quick wit for a funny one-liner that would bring laughter to the room. Most of all, Debbie will always be remembered for her generous heart. She was the most thoughtful, intentional gift giver. She showered her family with love every opportunity she got. Whether it was a momentous occasion, birthday, Christmas, or just because, she always found the perfect gift that made her family feel loved.
Debbie is survived by her husband David Marshall; Daughter, Heather Marshall, and son-in-law, Patrick Haller; Son, Tyler D Marshall, and daughter-in-law, Hannah Marshall; and brother, Donald Wahlman. She is predeceased by her Father, Donald Wahlman, and mother, Virginia Wahlman.
A life celebration will be held this spring in Blue Ridge GA.
