Charles Stephen Coy of Chamblee Georgia passed away on April 24th 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospital surrounded by friends and family. Steve was born on July 31st 1946 in Louisville Kentucky to Charles C. Coy and Mary Rita Craven Coy. He was a graduate of St. Xavier High School and of Bellarmine University. He earned his doctor of law from Emory Law School in Atlanta Ga, in 1971. He practiced estate law for the U.S. Treasury department for more than 27 years before retiring to spend time with family. As a recipient of a liver transplant in 1993, Steve was an advocate for organ donation and an active member of his local liver transplant support group. Nothing meant more to Steve than his close friends “the gang” and his family both in Louisville and Atlanta. Steve enjoyed spending time at the family lake house, watching movies with his grandchildren, fishing, reading, history and classic television. He is proceeded in death by his parents and son Michael Bryan Coy. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Leslie Golden Coy, brother Michael J. Coy of Honolulu Hawaii, son Sean Coy, daughter in-law Katherine Pettigrew Coy, grandchildren Charles T. Coy, Arwen Coy, Conor Coy of Atlanta Georgia, a large extended family, and many friends.
Visitation will be held Wednesday May 1st at Patterson’s Funeral Home 4550 Peachtree Road Ne
Atlanta, GA 30319 from 5-7pm followed by a rosary service from 7-7:30pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday May 2nd at 10am at the Cathedral of Christ the King 2699 Peachtree Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30305. Burial will be in Prosperity Cemetery, Chamblee GA.
