Carolyn was born in Savannah, Georgia to Andrew and Mary Alice Cory on September 18th, 1945. She attended H.V. Jenkins High School in Savannah. Carolyn went on to study English at the University of Georgia and received her B.S. in Education in 1967. She then received a Masters of Library Science in 1981 from Georgia State University.
Carolyn spent most of her career in education as an English teach and librarian. She was passionate about teaching children and worked tirelessly to make sure each child that crossed her path had an opportunity to develop a lifelong love for reading. She was an avid Bridge player, talented gardener, voracious reader, and book club member. Carolyn was a graceful, loving, funny, intelligent, southern lady who was a friend to all she met. She will be deeply missed by her former students, bridge partners, neighbors, and family.
Carolyn was happily married to Ronald B. Chapman for over 20 years until his passing in 1996. Carolyn was also preceded in death by her parents Andrew and Mary Alice Cory and her brother, Andrew “Jack” Cory.
Carolyn is survived by her two children Andrew Chapman and Cory (Chris) Sams and her grandson Andrew “Drew” Sams.
