Anita was born in Brooklyn, NY to John and Olga Gabrielsen on February 1, 1939. She went to two high schools, Port Jefferson HS and E.L. Vandermeulen HS in New York. She married Richard John Mancuso on October 31st, 1964, in New York. Anita had many careers in her lifetime. Payroll Manager at Gimbels, Homemaker to 3 children that were born way too close together, Real Estate Agent at Harry Norman, several different roles at Piedmont Hospital, Events Coordinator at Atlanta Arrangements and Legendary Events and many more. Her first passion was competitive roller skating where she achieved great success and was known as the “Doris Day of skating” back in the 1950’s. She went on to become an avid tennis player and spent many years competing in ALTA here in Atlanta. Anita had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest. She has traveled the world, loved her family and loved going out for dinner, the movies, shopping, plays, and of course, wine.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Richard John Mancuso; mother, Olga Olsen; father, John Gabrielsen; and brother, John Gabrielsen.
Anita is survived by her 4 children, Richard Scott Mancuso, John David Mancuso, Michele Mancuso McRae; and son in law, Norman Louis McRae; four amazing grandchildren, Madeline Emma McRae, Molly Katherine McRae, Spencer Mancuso, and Nicholas Mancuso; as well as many in laws, cousins and best friends. Anita was always “America’s Guest” which can be attributed to her amazing hospitality, light, and love she showed to all who knew her.
Funeral/memorial services will be held on December 7th, 2024 at 2:00pm at H.M. Patterson and Son – Oglethorpe Hill Chapel located at 4550 Peachtree Road, Ne, Atlanta, Ga 30319. There will be a brief service officiated by Pastor David Miller of The Lutheran Church of the Ascension followed by an onsite reception at H.M. Patterson. Arrangements are by H.M. Patterson and Son.
