Mr. Harvill was a Private First Class in the United States Army, serving in WW2 from September 8, 1944 to July 2, 1946. During his time in the Army, he received many medals including the American Theater Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, WW2 Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal, and an EAME Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star.
He graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Business Administration and worked for the State of Georgia in Telecommunications for approximately 34 years. Thomas refereed basketball in Athens and North Georgia for over 25 years and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan, which he passed down to his children and grandchildren.
Thomas was a quiet, kind man who was very close to his family and meant a great deal to them. He always showed unconditional love and acceptance to his family and friends. He was a steadfast follower of Christ, loved the Lord and was a faithful church attendee. He taught Sunday School, was a training Union Director and was a supporter of his Pastors at Central Baptist Church and Prince Avenue Baptist Church, where he was a member.
Mr. Harvill was the son of the late Thomas Rowe Harvill, Sr. and Elizabeth Hobbs Harvill. Survivors include his wife, Martha Holloway Harvill; his brother, Morgan Harvill, Sr. (Marilyn); children, Bill Harvill (Nancy) and David Harvill; grandchildren, Joshua Harvill (Mary), Katherine Harvill Mattox (Jonathan); great grandchildren, Hannah Harvill and Kirkland Harvill; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister Betty Ginn (Perry).
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 11 A.M. at Evergreen Memorial Park.
