Bob, as he was known, was born and reared in Athens. He was predeceased by his parents Edmund A. Booth, Sr. and Evelyn Finney Booth. He is survived by his brother Edmund A. Booth, Jr. (Mary), his nephew Edmund A. Booth, III (Rachel), his great-nieces Reagan and Greer, his great-nephew Alex, and a host of other relatives.
Bob graduated from Athens High School in 1968 and subsequently from the University of Georgia. He became a real estate professional in Athens in the 1970s and received his REALTOR Emeritus status in 2015. He was a loyal and dedicated member of the Athens Area Association of REALTORS since its early years and served as Secretary and MLS President and participated in a multitude of committees. In 2018 he was awarded the Association’s Lifetime Meritorious Service Award. For 46 years, Bob represented his profession with honor and integrity.
Bob was involved in the community through his volunteer work with the Rotary Club of Athens and Athens First United Methodist Church. He was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary International Foundation. Bob had a life well-lived as he exemplified the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”
Putting others before himself defined Bob’s life. It is what made him so valuable to the Athens Area Association of REALTORS, the community, and his clients.
After a 10:00 AM private graveside service, a memorial service will be held on Friday, November 18, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Athens First United Methodist Church. Honorary pallbearers will be the Athens Rotary Club and the Tuck Sunday School class. A reception will follow the service at the church.
