Born in Charleston, SC on July 12, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Taft E. (Ted) and Gaynelle (Hill) Dantzler. She was preceded in death by her sister, Elaine Dantzler (Nault) and brother, Francis E. Dantzler.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Ray (Jennifer) of Watkinsville, GA, and her brother, Weyman Dantzler (Elaine) of Winterville, GA.
Once known as “The Prettiest Girl in Athens,” Ms. Ray had worked 40 years as a nurse before retiring from Athens Regional Medical Center where she had been a pediatric nurse. She had also worked many years as an emergency room nurse at St. Mary's Hospital.
Graveside services will be held Sunday, September 6 at 3 p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Saturday, September 5, from 6-8 p.m. at Bernstein Funeral Home.
