A native of Athens, Mrs. Griggs was the daughter of the late James Ivey Day, Sr and Edith Elizabeth Wood Day. She retired from the Athens-Clarke County School System and attended Crossroads Community Church.
Survivors include husband, James Griggs of Athens; daughter, April Elizabeth Smith and husband, Anthony Trent Smith of Hull; brothers, James I. Day, Jr. of Atlanta and William David Day of Dallas, TX; sisters, Judy Day Warren and Deborah Day both of Chapel Hill, NC, and Cynthia Day Ross of Stone Mountain, and granddaughter, Jillian Kate Smith of Hull.
Funeral services will be held 11AM Friday, July 10th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Pastor Mike Dillard officiating. Interment will follow at Oconee Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Thursday, July 9th at the funeral home.
