Marlene Edith Rooks

A native of Trenton, NJ, Mrs. Rooks was the daughter of the late Thomas Workman Sr. and Mary Louisa Rothamel Workman. She was initiated into the Boynton Beach Chapter No. 236 of the Eastern Star on July 1, 1996 and became affiliated with the Athens Chapter No. 268 of the Eastern Star on October 23, 2006. Mrs. Rooks was Faithful Star Worthy Matron from 2011-2012, Grand Representative of Scotland in Georgia from 2014-2016 and was Pedal Pusher Worthy Matron from 2015-2016. She was also a member of the Athens Elks and East Athens Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Rooks was preceded in death by a son, Richard G. “Rick” Patterson Jr. on January 7, 2014; her husband, Ronald Gilbert “Ron” Rooks Sr. on March 24, 2015; and a sister, Gloria Christensen.

Survivors include children: Terri Thomason (Mark) of Boynton Beach, FL and Thomas Patterson (Donna) of Riverview, FL; brothers: Thomas Workman Jr. (Maureen) of Boca Raton, FL and Donald Workman (Sandra) of McLean, VA; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 20, at 2:00 p.m., in the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grand Chapter of Georgia Eastern Star Benevolence Fund, P.O. Box 2436, Kennesaw, GA 30156-2436.
