Julie was a devout Catholic and served for 11 years at the Catholic Center at UGA as lector, eucharistic minister, and in food ministry. She was a parishioner for 21 years at Holy Cross and 24 years at Immaculate Heart of Mary, both in Atlanta. She was assistant to the pastor of Holy Cross for many years.
A devoted mother and grandmother, she was a lifelong learner encouraging her family in both education and creativity. She traveled all over the world and enjoyed vacations with her always expanding family. She loved art and found her greatest talent as a calligrapher that included a term as president of Atlanta's Friends of the Alphabet. She recently took an autobiography class we are only starting to read, and it is filled with friends, family, fun, and faith.
She had many jobs throughout her life, including as a Delta flight attendant where she met passenger Dan! She brought her energy, curiosity, and organization skills to any job, paid or volunteer. She had many groups of new and lifelong friends including her prayer group, tennis teams, book club, mahjong group and OLLI. She loved you all.
Funeral services will be presided by Father Fred Wendel at the Catholic Center at UGA, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, November 3. Masks are required, and live streaming will be available at https://youtu.be/vs_qQaGIi9g. A reception will follow at the center.
