A native of Troup County, Mrs. Pelfrey was a daughter of the late Edgar L. Pitts and Adele Mitchum Pitts. She was retired from the University of Georgia.
Survivors include children, Teri Skelton of Martin, Dennis Pelfrey of Warner Robins, Glynn Pelfrey of Martin and Calvin Pelfrey of Bethlehem; sister, Annie Lee Patton of Athens; grandchildren, April Backer, Amy Skelton, Landon Pelfrey, Emily Pelfrey, and Dara Davison; eight great-grandchildren; special niece, Jackie Bryant of Athens and a number of other nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pelfrey was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Carlton Pelfrey Jr.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 31 at 3 p.m. at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Peavy officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
