Glenda was born in Buford, GA but early in her childhood moved to Athens, GA where she resided for the rest of her life and met Grady, her husband of sixty-one years until his passing in 2023. Glenda was a giver, whether it be of her time, money, or love, she lived a selfless life and never rested until the people she loved were taken care of. Her love for her kids, grandkids, and family was immeasurable. Her faith and trust in God guided her daily life. Additionally, Glenda was known as one of the best cooks and bakers in her friend/family circles. Her potato salad, biscuits, and banana pudding were treasured by all, and holidays were anticipated by many who may get a taste of her many desserts and cookies. Glenda was also a fervent reader (her favorite book was Gone with the Wind), loved history, music (Elvis was top of the list), and she loved to shop. Heaven is her new home now, and her body and mind are restored.
Glenda was preceded in death by her father, John Leonard Cape, her mother, Sara Louise Cape, and her husband, Grady Lee Tolbert. She is survived by her three children, Mark, Kevin, and Jason, her sister, Patricia Hayes, and grandchildren, Ethan, Ansley, Gabe, Hutson, and Sim.
Visitation will be held at Bernstein Funeral Home on Friday, January 19, from 1:30-3:00 p.m., followed by a committal service at 3:00 p.m., in the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel. Private interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
