Edwina Bishop Lay

A native of Doyle, LA, Mrs. Lay was the daughter of the late Edward Eugene Bishop and Iva Mae Shepard Bishop and was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Edward Lay and granddaughter, Dominique “Nique” Chatham Leili. She was employed by Lay Brothers Oil Company from 1946 to 2003 as a bookkeeper, controller, and managing partner and she was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.

Survivors include daughter, Harriett Lay Garrett and husband, James of Athens; granddaughters, Kathryn White and husband, James of Athens and Amy Elk of Lawrenceville; great-grandchildren, Katee Daniel, Mary Margaret Daniel both of Athens, Alexandra Page of Buford, Amanda Leili and Rebecca Leili both of Vermont, Dallan Elk and Julia Madison Elk both of Lawrenceville, and Justin White of Athens, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held 2PM Thursday, December 6th at Evergreen Memorial Park with Rev Bill Currington officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8PM Wednesday, December 5th at Bernstein Funeral Home.
