Dorothy "Annette" Wilson Harper, a cherished resident of Athens, Georgia, peacefully departed this world on December 5, 2023, at the age of 99, surrounded by family and the familiar comforts of her Athens home of 68 years. Born on April 16, 1924, in Penfield, Georgia, Annette was the beloved daughter of Hugh and Inez Wilson.
Annette's journey included graduating from Greensboro High, after which she devoted several years as a dedicated Beautician at Belk in Athens. Later, she exemplified her unwavering commitment to family by establishing her own Beauty shop at home. Over her 45+ years as a hairdresser, she not only styled hair but also forged enduring friendships with her many customers, who became cherished friends.
In addition to her professional dedication, Annette cared devotedly for her daughter and, in later years, for her elderly mother, a commitment that continued until her mother's peaceful passing at the remarkable age of 108.
Annette and her husband, Clarence Harper, celebrated 49 years of marriage filled with joyous fishing trips, camping adventures, and precious moments shared with friends and family. A steadfast member of Oconee Heights Baptist Church in Athens, Annette cultivated lasting friendships that enriched her life.
She is survived by her only child, Elaine Harper, of St. Pete Beach, Florida and her favorite son-in-law, Frank Reeves of Athens, Georgia. Annette is preceded in death by her father, Hugh Wilson, mother, Inez Wilson, brother, Herman Wilson, and the many adored pets that brought her immense joy.
A quiet burial service, honoring Annette's life, will be held at Penfield Cemetery on Friday, December 8, 2023.
Bernstein Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
May Annette find eternal peace, her memory forever embraced in the hearts of those who were touched by her love and warmth.
