Brent was born in Detroit, MI, lived in St. Petersburg, FL as a young child, and then grew up in Athens, GA. He graduated from Cedar Shoals High School in 1977 then went to college at UGA. Brent loved sports and was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.
At 21 years of age, he became the owner and operator of Anderson's Rebuilders, an auto mechanic shop in Athens. Brent operated this business along with his brothers, Mark and Greg, throughout most of the 1980's. Brent continued to be an extremely talented mechanic for the rest of his life.
He was the son of the late Dennis and Louise Gibson, grandson of the late Ora and Rachel Rogers and grandson of the late Starling and Maude Gibson.
In addition to his parents and grandparents he was preceded in death by a sister, Denise Maddox.
Brent was loved by all who knew him. Brent is remembered for always being helpful and caring. He would go out of his way to help others.
A memorial service will be held Monday, November 18, at 3:00 p.m., in the Bernstein Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Curington officiating. Inurnment will be in Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Survivors include his sister, Pam Felker; and two brothers: Mark and Greg Gibson; as well as his loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
Bernstein Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
