Born in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ammon Rufus McManuels and Mary Elizabeth McManuels and wife of the late Jerry Lamar Johnson. Alice was an EMS Dispatcher and Paramedic, who retired from St. Mary's Hospital in Athens, GA, after over 35 years serving others in their time of need with an unparalleled calmness under pressure. She was an avid Bulldog fan and devote lover of the Beatles and Hallmark Christmas movies, often watching the same one multiple times in a week. Survivors include her siblings, Nancy Dubose (Husband, Leon Dubose), of Houston, TX, Nikki McManuels, of Port Orange, FL, and Robert McManuels (Wife, Judy McManuels), of Ocala, FL; her children, Tammi Johnson, of Sky Valley, GA, Lisa McCain (Husband, Theodore McCain), of Johns Creek, GA and John Johnson, of Highlands, NC; her bonus daughter, Heather Johnson, of Melbourne, FL: her four grandchildren: William "Porter" Heskett, II, Alisia Johnson, Mason Heskett and Charles Johnson; her three bonus grandsons: Austin McCain, Bryce McCain and Trenton McCain; her former husband and friend, Edward Godwin, of Lenox, GA; and last, but not least, her many fur babies and fur grandbabies.
All are welcome to join her family in a celebration of her life on Friday, November 18th from 4-8 pm at Bernstein Funeral Home (3195 Atlanta Hwy, Athens, GA). A private service and scattering of remains will be held in Ocala, Florida on December 18th.
