Agnes Pledger Smith

She was the daughter of the late Rufus A. and Mina Burger Pledger. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harvey Pledger and Robert Pledger; and sisters, Mary Pledger, Estelle Pledger, Ruth Hopkins and Doris Jones.

Mrs. Smith was a member of Princeton United Methodist Church and was known as Meemaw, Mother, sister, friend and an avid Georgia football fan. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home, 3195 Atlanta Hwy., Athens, on Saturday, July 28 at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at 10 a.m., prior to the service. Please join the family in wearing RED, her favorite color in celebration of her life.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Daniel, Chris Denham, Alex Pledger, Edward Hopkins, Ben Etter and Keith Baumwald.

Survivors include her daughters, Pam Segraves (Pat) and Cathy Bryant; son, James Rodney Smith (Debby); grandchildren, Tara Daniel (Tommy), Keith Baumwald (Betty), Jonathan Bryant, Shayna Denham (Chris), Catherine Bryant, Rebecca Smith (Ben Etter) and great-grandchildren, Libbi and Laura Denham.
