Martha Bates

Mrs. Bates was born March 19, 1935 in Limestone County to Curtis Black and Margaret Beasley Black.

Graveside service will be Thursday, February 15, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Cemetery, with Guy McDaniel officiating.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 12-1:45 P.M. at McConnell Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bates is preceded in death by her parents; husband James Homer Bates one sister Brenda Black Nave.

She worshiped at O’Neil Church of Christ. She was a caregiver who worked over thirty years caring for the elderly.

Survivors include four sons, James Randall Bates and wife Charlotte, Curtis Daniel Bates and wife Sabrina, Joseph Leroy Bates and Anthony Lynn Bates all of Athens; one sister Lynda Black Crouch of Pulaski, TN; seven grandchildren Jamie Bates, Daniel Bates, Michael Bates, Lucas Bates, Paula Curnutt, Chad Farmer, and Alisha Rose; five great grandchildren Andrew and Austin Bates, Curt and Briley Bates, and Madison Curnutt.

Pallbearers will be Jamie Bates, Austin Bates, Andrew Bates, Daniel Bates, Lucas Bates and Curt Bates.

In lieu of flowers make donations to Hospice of Limestone County.
