Son to Dr. Clarence Wood (graduate Berkeley) and Registered nurse Edith Wood
both grandfathers were Doctors also graduating from Princeton and Columbia University
Greg was born July 17 1937 in St Helena Ca., at St Clements Vineyard.
Greg and family moved to Huntington Park when He was in Jr., High. He and his brother were members to the organization Sea Scouts and Binks was there leader and Skipper. Greg always at the ocean and summers were vacationed at Huntington Beach at mobile and Cabanna park just south of the pier on the sand in the early 1950s. He completed his catechism at St Francis Catholic Church.
In High School and college he worked at Henrys gas station doing his homework between servicing cars. He belonged to a car club in High School always cruising Johnies in Downey and Whittier, the Clock restaurant in HP., and he liked working on cars. He liked the Everly Brothers and Wake up little suzie song.. When he got his license he drove his mom and sisters to the Seatle World Fair. Greg's sports in school was gymnastics. He did State wide competion in Bars and horse while attending Long Beach State College. He graduated from Long Beach State College with a degree in commercial art. Greg was a Veteran in the USA Army for 2 yrs.,
His hobbies were golf, Salmon fishing to Alaska and Canada each year. Sailing in his Sail boat called the "Windsong", and Duck hunting with his friends. earlier years Sking and river rafting. He enjoyed music, jazz, folk, Peter Paul and Mary, Dave Bruebeck. grateful dead, Beatles, etc.,
Straight out of school he starting working for Boeing and the Aircraft Corporations of Long Beach. starting out at Hughes Aircraft which merged with Douglas Aircraft becoming McDonald Douglas merging with Boeing. He was a designer for Boeing and later career at Boeing worked in Public Relations traveling Internationally and Nationwide representing Boeing in Exhibits Places he shared with us was Dubai, Japan, England, Europe, New York, Florida, Germany and many other locations. He retired from Boeing with over 45 years with Boeing.
Traveling was another hobby of my brother Greg. Vacation to Ireland, Hawaii, Alaska
He was Uncle Greg to the younger generations. Greg loved his nieces and nephews and there children considering them like his own grand children. Always supporting and wanting the best for them. His desire was to carry out the family tradition with them to go on to college like he did and get a degree.
