Larry Nelson passed away April 8, 2023 at age 65. Larry was born in Picton, ON, son of Claire and Arlie Nelson. Larry had one sister Sandra. Larry went to college to study helicopter engineering at Canadore College in North Bay, ON where he meet some lifelong friends. Larry through his career has worked in many countries like Ethiopia where he did famine relief and he loved the Ethiopian people, India, South America, Yemen, Qatar, Doha to name a few and of course all across Canada doing forest fires, et cetera. Larry made friends wherever he went and treated everyone the same from the CEO to the janitor. Larry was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma at 25, was given three months to live and made it to 65, incredible. To say the least he never gave up on anything. Larry met his wife Dorothy many years later and was married in 1987. Together they had their son Christopher in 1990. Larry loved his mountains in BC (quite a surprise when he wanted to come to Saskatchewan), his helicopters and old cars. He lived his life to the fullest and in his eyes; every day was a great day. He is survived by his wife Dorothy Nelson of Mankota, SK, son Christopher Nelson of Surrey, BC and sister Sandra Nelson of Picton, ON. Following Larry’s wishes, there will not be a formal funeral service. Donations in memory of Larry may be made to the Mankota Medical Foundation, PO Box 390, Mankota, SK S0H 2W0. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.rossfuneralservice.com for the Nelson family. Arrangements entrusted to Ross Funeral Service, Assiniboia, SK
