Clay, Betty Fahrbach, 91, of Ashland, Virginia, passed away on August 8th. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late William F. Fahrbach and Anna McCauley Fahrbach of Crewe, Virginia. She graduated from Crewe High School in Crewe, VA, and Pan American Business School in Richmond, VA. She was a member of the Ashland Presbyterian Church and the Ashland Junior Woman’s Club. She worked at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland from 1967-1994. She was an avid lover of the beach and had spent as much time there as she could since childhood. Mrs. Clay was a devoted mother. She is survived by her seven children: daughters, Sandra C. Copler and husband Tom of Montpelier, VA, Karen C. Winston and husband John of Nags Head, NC, and Hollis C. Bondurant and husband Gary of Richmond; sons, James Clay and wife Bernadine of Montpelier, Tommy Clay and wife Gail of Beaverdam, Andrew Clay and wife Karen of Montpelier, and Bill Clay and wife Aurelia of Lafayette, LA. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Ruth Limerick of Richmond, but is survived by sisters, Willa Powers of Tampa, FL, and Shirley Baker of Richmond; and a brother, William Fahrbach of Troutville, VA. The family will receive friends from 3 to 5pm on Sunday, August 10th at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy., Ashland, VA. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 11th at Woodland cemetery in Ashland, VA.
