Roy was born in Ashland, Ohio on July 26, 1932, the son of Roy J. and Gertrude (Shepherd) Wells. He proudly served in the United States Army and was in the Korean Conflict from 1952-1954. He was a member of the American Legion Post #88 of Ashland, and a member of National Rifle Association. Roy was a carpenter and retired from Orange Twp. as a grader operator in 1995. He attends Southview Grace Brethren Church. Roy was a friend to everyone.
Roy married Ruth A. (Cole) Wells in 1959 and she survives him. He is also survived by two daughters, Jackie Turner and Roberta (Lonnie) Skok; five grandchildren, Shane (Michelle) Ritchey, Chad Ritchey, Justin Skok, Victoria Turner, and Josh (Mandie) Skok; great-grandchildren, Cash, Katy, Ayden, Macy, Cama, Sunny, and Karlee; a brother, Scott Wells; a sister, Gloria Jean Bowles; several nieces and nephews; and beloved family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister-in-law, Greta Wells; and a special cousin, Tom Wells.
Family and friends may visit from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Southview Grace Brethren Church, 810 Katherine Ave., Ashland, OH 44805. Service will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Abel and Pastor Joel Zook officiating. He will be laid to rest in Nankin Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southview Grace Brethren Church of Ashland or the Nankin Fire Department.
