Jennifer Cruz Mateo

Jennifer Cruz Mateo, 56, of Mansfield, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023 at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. Born August 15, 1967 in Tamuning, Guam, she was the daughter of Johnny R. Cruz and Veronica S.N. Susuico.

Jennifer worked in retail and was a foster parent. She enjoyed playing BINGO, cards, mahjong, going to Casino’s, cooking and listening to Chamorro music. Jennifer especially loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by her father, Johnny; her daughters, Veronica (Ryan) Hershiser and Topanga Nagel; her sons, John (Ren) Cruz, Joey Cruz and Judd (Cassie) Mateo; several grandchildren; three sisters, Jessica Cruz, Jerriann (Tina) Cruz and Darlene Agulto; two brothers, Jeffrey (Lori) Cruz and Jason Agulto; numerous nieces and nephews; and her significant other, Mike Villagomez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Papa” Mateo and her mother.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at Wappner Funeral Directors – Ashland, 308 Claremont Avenue, Ashland. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Tuesday.
