Marvin Richard Parks Sr.

Marvin Richard Parks Sr., age 79, of Barnhart, Missouri passed away at his home on Saturday, August 26, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin L. and Virginia (nee Reynolds) Parks, along with his siblings; Gloria Coffman, Nancy Parks, and Chester “Pete” Parks. Marvin is survived by his devoted wife, Mary (nee Phillips), his children; Erica (John Troske) Parks, Sharolyn (Jay) Penneau, and Marvin, Jr.,”RJ” (Sarah) Parks. He was a devoted grandpa to Tyler (Amanda), Blake, and Quentin Parks. Marvin also leaves behind his sister, Linda (Sam) Daugherty, and a brother, James Parks. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories and values he shared will continue to inspire those left behind.

Marvin was a proud Navy veteran, his commitment to his county was unwavering. His service in the Navy was a source of pride and shaped the values he held throughout his life. Marvin’s career allowed him to travel extensively, and he shared these experiences with his children, creating enduring memories that will be treasured for generations. He was a strict yet loving father, instilling in his children the values of discipline, respect, and compassion. Marvin and his beloved wife shared a passion for travel, exploring and creating memories together as they experienced the beauty of the country they loved. An active member of both the VFW Post #2593 and the American Legion Post #283. Marvin found camaraderie and sense of purpose through his involvement. He was a part of the “Cooties,” a sub group at the VFW, further reflecting his dedication to his fellow veterans. Marvin had a range of interests that brought him joy. He enjoyed golfing, the thrill of watching westerns, crime dramas, as well as wrestling matches and shows like Perry Mason. His fascination with Navy related movies demonstrated his connection to his military background.

A visitation for Marvin will be held Tuesday, September 5, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Heiligtag-Lang-Fendler Funeral Home, 1081 Jeffco Blvd, Arnold, MO 63010. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 10:30 AM at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri where Marvin will receive full military honors.
