Lon Langdon, a devoted volunteer fire chief and cherished family man, passed away on September 21, 2024 at the age of 83. Lon was a pillar of the Stillaguamish Valley, known for his unwavering commitment to service and his genuine care for others.
With a remarkable volunteer fire fighting career spanning over 50 years, including 34 years as fire chief at District 21. Lon’s dedication to protecting his community and mentoring others was unparalleled. His leadership helped to transform the Arlington Heights and Oso fire departments, fostering innovation and community engagement that saved lives and inspired countless individuals. Lon’s leadership and bravery during emergencies earned him the respect and admiration of his fellow firefighters and community members.
Beyond his love for the fire department, Lon was a loving family man. He is survived by his wife Sandra Baker, his two daughters, Teresa Langdon and Michelle Alderson, Sandra’s daughters Rhonda Robinson and Robbin Copelan, his five grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Lon’s legacy of love and community pride will forever remain in the hearts of those he touched. He will be deeply missed but always remembered. A true volunteer is hard to find, difficult to part with and impossible to forget.
A celebration of life is being planned and a date will be announced in the coming weeks.
