She was born September 1, 1943 and grew up in Everett, Washington, the daughter of Emil and Jeanette (Coles) Paulson. She attended the Everett Public School system, graduating in 1961. Judy married her husband of 62 years, Don, on July 28, 1961. They then moved to Texas for his military service, and soon after moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where their two sons Tim and Ken were born. After military service, they returned to Everett, and eventually to the Granite Falls area where she lived until 2021, when her health brought her to Arlington Health & Rehabilitation.
Judy worked many jobs throughout her life: Checker at Safeway, de-beaking chickens, working the election polls and pelting season at Blue Granite Fur, making friends along the way. Judy also made beautiful macrame creations, and ran the kitchen for the Snohomish County Pigeon Fanciers show for many years. She grew to take on new things from travel adventures, building computers, to learning Spanish, but her home and her family were most important to her. She made it to most of the kids, grandkids & great-grand kids’ events, and she particularly loved to watch their sports; sometimes making the hard decisions as to what event she could attend, or splitting between two. She was always around and contributed greatly to raising her grandchildren and loved it, especially if it involved Bubsy, Super Mario Brothers, painting nails, making holiday lefsa or eating popcorn. She also made sure that her door was always open, and that any family members were welcome dropping by to see her any time. Often times her grandchildren chose to spend their time after school at her house, as being in her home and with her was always a place where they felt loved and supported. She always put in the work to have everyone back the day after the holiday for leftovers and games. Judy was a big Mariners and Seahawks fan who was very excited to get Seahawks season tickets that she cherished sharing with family for years.
She is loved by her husband Don Ogren, sons Tim Ogren and Ken (Jaynie) Ogren; her five grandchildren Bre Diaz (Terry Paulson), Tawni Ogren (Aaron Craig), Tyler (Courteney) Ogren, Marissa Ogren (Eric Clapp), and Alicia (Dalton) Pierce; five great-grandchildren Lacoda, Jade, Jack, Ellet and Ezra, and brother-in-law Jerry Stephenson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Emil (Bertha) Paulson, mother, Jeanette (Oscar) Iverson; siblings: Karen Stephenson, Doris (Gene) Knollmeyer, Marion (Dan) Daugherty, Leroy Paulson and Dickie Paulson.
A memorial service for Judy will be held Sunday, January 28, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Weller Funeral Home, 327 North MacLeod Ave, Arlington, Washington. A reception will occur at Weller Funeral Home.
