Doris “Janet” Kalaf, born on May 20, 1939, in Buhl, Idaho, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024, at the age of 84 in Arlington, WA. Janet worked for Powell River-Alberni Sales Company for many years, and retired from Evergreen Manor in 2012. Janet’s passions included serving the church community, sewing, gardening and spending time with family. She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Nathan Kalaf, children, Michael Horn, Curt Horn, Lori (Horn) Grube, stepchildren, Tina (Kalaf) Gearheard, Evelyn (Kalaf) Modahl and Stephanie (Kalaf) White, brother, Johnny Johnson, nine grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral mass will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, we request that a donation be made in Janet’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association or any hospice service.
