Sharon Elizabeth Bartholomew

Sharon was born on June 10, 1962 in Washington, D.C. to the late James C. D. Donald and Mary M. Errigo. She graduated from Caesar Rodney High School in Camden, Delaware in 1980. Sharon attended Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Virginia where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in 1984. While working full-time, she earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 1991 from Strayer College.

Sharon was a CPA working in public accounting for several years. Following this, she worked as a controller and then CFO of various associations in the DC area. She retired and became a “domestic engineer,” raising her two children and keeping a meticulous home. Sharon volunteered with several organizations throughout Northern Virginia and DC. She was Treasurer for the Catholic Charities Ball of the Diocese of Arlington for three years. She also hosted fundraisers for the Arlington Community Foundation and the Arlington Free Clinic. She was an active member in the Virginia Hospital Center Galen Society.

Sharon was a devoted mother and wife. She often talked about “creating memories” with her children. She loved to spend her evenings cooking gourmet meals for her family and watching their favorite shows together, such as Friday Night Lights and Grey’s Anatomy. She was actively involved in her children’s extracurricular activities, including Yorktown High School football, basketball, soccer, and dance teams. Sharon, or “Mrs. B” as she was fondly called, always welcomed her children’s friends into her home.

Sharon was a loving friend to many. She was fiercely loyal, and she cherished her relationships with friends from Caesar Rodney High School, Randolph-Macon College, and Arlington, Virginia. At her monthly book club meetings, she was always lively and fun, using the time to catch up with friends and sometimes even discussing the book. She was known to be a phenomenal hostess with unsurpassed attention to detail.

Sharon’s happy place was Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. She treasured the time she spent there with her family and friends. One of her favorite memories was a summer in college when she lived and worked at the beach. Later, she shared her love of the beach with her family. Throughout her life, she continued to enjoy the tranquility of sitting with her toes in the ocean or the simplicity of just watching the sunrise.

Sharon is survived by her husband of 24 years, Nat Bartholomew; her children, CJ Bartholomew and Jillian Bartholomew; her sisters, Gwenanne (Michael) Salkind and Charlene (Christopher Adams) Martin; her nieces, Emily Salkind and Shannon (Cameron) McCreary; and her nephew, Patrick (Samantha) Salkind.

Sharon was dearly loved and will be missed by all.
