I worked with Bob when I was assigned to the Youth Resouce Unit in the early 80's. He was completely dedicated to the children of Arlington County.  He was easy to get to know and  was a natural at connecting with kids.  He never took himself seriously and possessed a self-deprecating sense of humor.  May the force be with you.

I was so very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. His quick sense of humor and amazing smile will be missed at the Courthouse.

Bob and I grew up as childhood friends.  He lived across the street from me and I knew his mother well, too.  We used to play badminton together as kids.  As we grew older, we both ended up working in the criminal justice system and in Arlington County where we shared a passion for a field we both loved.  Bob always had good wit and he and I always cherished the fond memories of growing up in the same neighborhood across the street from one another.  I encouraged him to marry Debbie and told him she was a good woman for him. I am very, very sad over this news.  He will always remain in my life with fond memories.

Bob and I started as communications clerks with the PD. I have know him for many years and will always remember his friendly, gentleness. He will be missed by all.

I am deeply saddened to hear of Bob's passing. My condolences go out to his family and friends. He was such a kind and understanding person. I will miss joking around with him and wondering which tie he'll have on. Rest in peace my friend.

We were very sorry to hear of Bob's passing.  Both Neil and I worked with Bob at the Police Department and we both remember him as a person that always had a positive attitude, always smiling or had a joke to cheer someone up.  He was a good officer and an asset to the Sheriff's Dept.  He will be missed, but he left wonderful memories for his family and colleagues.

To the McFarland family,

I am so very sorry to hear about Bob's passing.  Even though I only knew Bob for a few years through his wife Debbie, I remember a wonderful man who was kind, thoughtful and cheerful.  He will be missed by all who knew him.  My condolences to all of you.

Bob had a tremendous impact on the lives of the children that he worked with in Arlington County.  He fulfilled a lifelong mission during his career with the Arlington Police and Sheriffs Office. Bob was a great person and police officer.I worked  with him often and he had a good heart and always treated people with kindness..I retired in 1985 but still saw him at other officers funerals over the years. Bob was that kind of person, he always took the time to honor those who came before him. A great man and police officer  I am proud to have known him.......clyde hall..

So sorry to hear of Bob's passing.  I have known Bob since we began working together at the ACPD in the early 70's.  A great guy, with a wonderful sense of humor.  He will be missed.
